Graduate School of Psychology and Educational Sciences

The graduate school is constituted by an international group of scholars and post-doctoral researchers, who are constantly interacting with our doctoral students (at present about 175). Several basic and applied research lines are run in the different fields of psychology and educational sciences. Students receive a thorough theoretical and methodological training (in quantitative and/or qualitative methodologies). In addition, also academic writing and communicating (via oral presentations and posters) are trained. Participating in national and international conferences is coached and encouraged. We offer the most updated computer and laboratory facilities, an excellent and electronically accessible library, and a stimulating international group of colleagues.

The research centres of the department of Psychology focus on the Psychology of learning and motivation, School psychology, Developmental psychology, Quantitative and personality psychology, Biological psychology, Experimental and Social psychology.
Other major research domains are Psychodiagnostics and Experimental psycho-pathology, Psychotherapy and Psychodynamic psychology, higher cognition and individual differences, Organizational and personnel psychology and Health Psychology. Cross-cultural psychology

The research centres of the department of Educational Sciences focus on Philosophy and History of education, Educational policy, Intercultural education, Educational effectiveness and school improvement, and Educational psychology and technology. Also Lifelong learning and continuing education, and Children and adolescents with special educational needs are major research topics next to Teacher education and Experiential education.

In both departments research methodology (both quantitative and qualitative) is also an important research topic.
