Board
The Board sets out the long-term strategy for the Leuven Centre for Irish Studies. Apart from representatives of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, the Irish Government and the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe, several distinguished academics, policy makers and business leaders are members of the Board.
The current Board consists of the following members:
- Prof. Dr. Filip Abraham, Vice-president of the Humanities and Social Sciences, K.U.Leuven (President of the Board)
- H.E. Mr. Tom Hanney, Irish Ambassador to Belgium
- Mr. Malachy Vallely, Honorary Director-General and Board Member of the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe
- Prof. Dr. Patrick Onghena, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, K.U. Leuven
- Mr. Jan Smets, Director of the National Bank of Belgium and President of the Board of the H.U.Brussel
- Mr. Edwin De Boeck, KBC Bank
- Ms. Katrien Verhelst, Group Manager of the Humanities and Social Sciences Group
- Prof. Dr. Jan Roegiers, Professor Emeritus, K.U.Leuven and member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium
- Prof. Dr. Hedwig Schwall, General Director Leuven Centre for Irish Studies, K.U.Leuven
- Mr. David O'Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer at the European External Action Service
The Advisory Board will consist of distinguished international scholars from all the fields included in the Leuven Centre for Irish Studies, who will advise the Centre’s research directors and scholars. They will meet once a year at the Irish College in Leuven.
