Research

The Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies is an interdisciplinary research centre of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven. It carries out and supports interdisciplinary research at the University on topics related to globalization, governance processes and multilateralism, with a particular focus on the following areas, taking the many cross-cutting issues into account:

  1. Centre of Excellence Programme on Global Governance and Democratic Government
  2. Trade and Sustainable Development - Hercules Database
  3. Peace and Security
  4. Human Rights, Democracy and Rule of Law
  5. European Union and Global Governance
  6. Non-State Actors and Global Governance
  7. Space Governance

 

K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence

In June 2010, the Centre has been recognized as K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence. Since then, it has launched a 7-year research programme on ‘Global Governance and Democratic Government’ (2010-2017), which aims at the construction of a new paradigm for democratic global governance.
