Short Bio

Sven Van Kerckhoven (°1987) is a phd researcher at the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies. He obtained his BSc of Applied Economics and his MSc of Business Economics at the University of Leuven (KUL). He also obtained its MSc of International Politics at the same university. Prior to joining the Center, he did an internship at the Belgian Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia. Sven is working on the project “Global Governance and Democratic Government”, in which he conducts research from a political economy perspective on global economic governance with an in-depth exploration of the WTO and the G-20. His main interest include: political economy, international trade, development economics and international politics.

K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence

In June 2010, the Centre has been recognized as K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence. Since then, it has launched a 7-year research programme on ‘Global Governance and Democratic Government’ (2010-2017), which aims at the construction of a new paradigm for democratic global governance.
