Research

Jan Van Hove is professor of European and international economics at the European University College Brussels (EHSAL), partner of the Association K.U.Leuven. His research deals with international trade theory and empirical evidence, in particular the relationship between international trade and technological innovation. Most of his research is inspired by the process of European economic integration. Other research interests include real estate economics, panel data econometrics and European policy in general. Within the Association K.U. Leuven, Jan Van Hove is the coordinator of the Research Alliance (onderzoekszwaartepunt – shortly, zwop) “Globalization” (www.globalization.be).

In June 2010, the Centre has been recognized as K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence. Since then, it has launched a 7-year research programme on ‘Global Governance and Democratic Government’ (2010-2017), which aims at the construction of a new paradigm for democratic global governance.
