Research

Pierre Schmitt studied law at the Universities of Namur (2001 - cum laude) and Louvain-la-Neuve (2004 - magna cum laude). He obtained a LL.M. degree in International and Comparative Law from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (2005 - magna cum laude).

Prior to joining the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, Pierre worked half time as assistant for Professor Franklin Dehousse in the Department of International Economic Law at the University of Liège. Since 2005, he also works as attorney at the Bar of Liège at half time.

K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence

In June 2010, the Centre has been recognized as K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence. Since then, it has launched a 7-year research programme on ‘Global Governance and Democratic Government’ (2010-2017), which aims at the construction of a new paradigm for democratic global governance.
