Short Bio

Katrien Meuwissen studied law at the KU Leuven (Bachelor 2007, Master 2009), with a specialisation in public, international and European law. During the academic year 2007-2008, she studied at King’s College in London in the framework of an Erasmus exchange. After Katrien obtained her law degree, she specialized a year in European policy and politics (MEPP: KU Leuven and University of Geneva). In the framework of two internships at the Belgian Permanent Mission in Geneva, she attended the 10th and 13th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

Katrien joined the KU Leuven Institute for International Law and the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies on the 1sth of September 2010. Katrien is a Belgian citizen and lives in Brussels.

K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence

In June 2010, the Centre has been recognized as K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence. Since then, it has launched a 7-year research programme on ‘Global Governance and Democratic Government’ (2010-2017), which aims at the construction of a new paradigm for democratic global governance.
