Idesbald Goddeeris (1972) is an assistant professor at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and a visiting professor at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. He was a fellow at, inter alia, the London School of Economics (2009). He has MA's of Slavic Studies and of History, and a PhD of History. His research focuses mainly on Migration history, Cold War history, and the western representation of non-western regions. He teaches undergraduate courses on Historical methodology, History of Russia, and History of India, and graduate courses on Central and European history, History of European expansion and colonization, and Social and political identities, movements, and structures in the 19th and 20th century.

K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence

In June 2010, the Centre has been recognized as K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence. Since then, it has launched a 7-year research programme on ‘Global Governance and Democratic Government’ (2010-2017), which aims at the construction of a new paradigm for democratic global governance.
