Research

Liesbeth Colen is a member of the research group on Development and Food Policy at LICOS Centre for Institutions and Economic Performance. Her research focuses on the relation between globalization and economic development of the poorest countries, especially in Sub-Sahara Africa. Specific research interests include the governance of global food supply chains and the impact of trade and foreign direct investments on welfare and poverty in the developing world.

K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence

In June 2010, the Centre has been recognized as K.U.Leuven Centre of Excellence. Since then, it has launched a 7-year research programme on ‘Global Governance and Democratic Government’ (2010-2017), which aims at the construction of a new paradigm for democratic global governance.
